  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Garlic press or grater

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Melt the Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Sauté Onion and Garlic: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the melted butter. Sauté until the onions are translucent and the garlic is fragrant about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add Liquids: Pour in the chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar. Stir to combine.
  • Add Spices and Seasonings: Add the brown sugar, paprika, cayenne pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, ground black pepper, dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, red pepper flakes, and ground ginger. Stir well to ensure all the spices are evenly distributed.
  • Simmer: Allow the sauce to simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will help the flavors to meld together.
  • Adjust Seasoning: Taste the sauce and add salt as needed. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add a bit more brown sugar. For more heat, increase the cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
  • Serve: Serve warm as a dipping sauce for seafood or pour it over your seafood boil.

Notes

Tips

  1. Adjust Spice Levels: If you’re not a fan of spicy food, reduce the amount of cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes.
  2. Make Ahead: This sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat it gently on the stove before serving.
  3. Versatility: While it’s perfect for seafood, this sauce can also be used as a marinade for chicken or as a dipping sauce for vegetables.
  4. Butter Substitute: For a lighter version, you can substitute half of the butter with olive oil.
  5. Extra Flavor: Add a splash of white wine or a dash of hot sauce for an extra layer of flavor.
Enjoy your Bloves Sauce with your next seafood feast for a burst of amazing flavors!
